ABOUT THE COUNSELOR:
I'm Amy Pierce, School Counselor at Centerfield Elementary. This is my 18th year in education, and my second year as a School Counselor. I was formerly a School Counselor in Shelbyville, KY, and a Special Education Teacher in Oldham County Schools. I attended Spalding University and University of Louisville, and when I'm not at school, I enjoy camping, boating, lake days, and live music with family and friends.
WHAT SERVICES CAN YOU PROVIDE?
School counselors provide many services during the school day to support the learning of all students. Elementary School Counselors promote the Academic, Social/Emotional, and Career Planning domains for all students, through a data-based, research proven model.
Services at Centerfield may include:
Services are accessed through teacher, student or parent referral, and may be offered to all students at different stages of development (5th grade girls' groups, etc.).
CONNECTING WITH MY CHILD:
Parents are a child's first and most important teacher. Connecting with your child over a school is a great way to stay involved in the day to day activities of your child's school life. Here are some questions to get you started:
Blessings In A Backpack:
Students at Centerfield Elementary may participate in "Blessings in a Backpack," a partnership program with Mt. Tabor Methodist Church.
The goals of the program are to help meet the nutritional needs of our children on the weekend and to generate public awareness on the issue of child hunger in the United States. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health, and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.
Through this program, each Friday students receive a backpack filled with easy to prepare food staples for their family over the weekend. On Mondays, students return ready to learn! Eligibility to participate in this program is based on family income. If you would like to receive consideration for this program, please contact Ms. Pierce at [email protected].
